How to size art above a toilet
The useful measurements are the frame’s outer edge and the wall’s clear area. The printed artwork size is only part of the picture.
Measure the usable wall
Measure from the upper boundary you choose down to an area clear of the tank lid and anything you need to reach. The lid may need to lift or slide for maintenance. Do not build a layout that blocks that movement. Draw the tank and nearby fittings on your worksheet.
Separate print size from frame size
A frame marked 16 × 20 may be larger outside. Our verified FISKBO 16 × 20 example measures 17¼ × 21¼ inches outside. Compare those outer dimensions with your usable wall, rather than assuming the nominal picture size is the footprint.
Test the position in the room
There is no universal hanging height that resolves every ceiling, toilet or sightline. Place a paper outline, step into the room and look from the doorway and the basin. Record a position that is comfortable in your own room without obstructing the things you use.
Keep the installation decision separate
Our calculator checks a rectangle on a rectangle. It cannot locate pipes, confirm anchors, predict moisture exposure or verify a load. Read the frame and fixing instructions, and seek suitable installation advice if the wall construction is uncertain.
Put the measurements on paper.
Test a single frame or a group of three against your usable wall. The planner does not approve installation or moisture suitability.
